At 14, Tim Kane was arrested at 39, he was paroled.

Tim Kane had no part in the killings. He never held a weapon. He spent most of the night cowering in the kitchen, terrified that the other boys might turn on him if he tried to leave. And yet, under Florida's felony murder law, the unarmed 14-year-old was as liable for the two murders as the 17-year-old with a knife and the 19-year-old with a gun. Kane was sentenced to two life terms, with no possibility of parole for 25 years.
