Episcopal bishop ponders whether to sanction same-sex blessings

The bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida may soon announce that he will allow priests to bless same-sex relationships. The Episcopal church approved the provisional rite back in 2012, but it’s up to bishops to decide whether to offer it. The first blessings could occur at the diocese’s “mother church,” St. Peter’s Cathedral in downtown St. Petersburg. Bishop Dabney Smith, who voted against the rite two years ago talks about how his thoughts have evolved. [Lara Cerri & Melissa Lyttle |]
