Habitat for Humanity's annual 'Blitz Build'

Volunteers helped raise the trusses Friday morning on the Hubbard-Lapos family's soon to be new Habitat for Humanity home (this is the house in the video clips). - Habitat for Humanity of Pinellas County kicked off its annual "Blitz Build" event on Valentine's Day. Starting at 7 a.m. volunteers began working on two houses, for Freda Dixon and her daughter and the Hubbard-Lapos family. Over 300 volunteers will turn out to help the nonprofit build the homes for a low income families in HabitatÕs Stevens Creek subdivision at 1884 N. Betty Lane, in Clearwater. Depending on the day, 30 to 80 volunteers each day will help Habitat Pinellas transform two concrete slabs and block walls into homes. [Jim Damaske |tampabay.com]
