Hillsborough commission votes to move Confederate monument to Brandon cemetery

Hillsborough County Commissioners voted 4-2 Wednesday to remove a Confederate monument that has stood in downtown Tampa for more than a century, reversing a decision from just a month ago and ending a weeks-long debate on the fate of the statue. Commissioners also decided to move the 106-year-old memorial, called Memoria en Aeterna, to a private cemetery owned by the Brandon family. (July 19, 2017) JAMES BORCHUCK | Times
