Home At Last

On June 6, 1944, WWII pilot John D. Mumford's P-51C “Mustang” fighter was shot down. His remains were deemed unrecoverable. That would have been the end of the story, but two months ago St. Pete resident Ronald Woolums, 70, received a call out of the blue from the Defense Department. The remains of his uncle, Mumford, had been found. They will soon be returning to Tampa.
