Hurricane Charley punished Punta Gorda and 10 years later the thriving city couldn't be more grateful

Ten years ago, Hurricane Charley wiped out much of Punta Gorda. The city and surrounding county have come roaring back (even with the economic downturn), transforming from a middle-income haven for snowbirds into a higher-end tourist destination.
