Inness art moved to Leepa-Rattner Museum

Movers with U.S.Art removed and crated a dozen paintings by artist George Inness Jr., from the interior walls of the Unitarian Universalist Church in Tarpon Springs on Monday (4/21/14). The crew spent the day moving the famous paintings that have adorned the walls of the church for decades, and crated them for transport to the Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at St. Petersburg College-Tarpon Springs for an exhibition beginning next month. In November, two hidden sinkholes were discovered on the church property, one a potential threat to the sanctuary. At first, the church had a plan to remove the historic paintings immediately and have them kept in a vault in Orlando, but that turned out not to be necessary. The SPC exhibit was already scheduled for this summer, so while the paintings are out, the sanctuary will be rehabilitated. [Douglas R. Clifford |]
