Scout troop loses home of 50 years

Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church has been home to Troop 4 for 50 years. But after the Boy Scouts of America changed its policy allowing openly-gay scouts, the church did not renew the troop's charter. On Saturday, former and current Boy Scouts gathered to decommission its home, a one-story concrete building behind the church. One of them was Richard Clarke, Jr., who joined Troop 4 at age 11 in 1964. "I have a lot of wonderful, wonderful memories in this building," Clarke said. "But the troop itself is going to endure, and that's the greatest thing." Troop 4/Pack 4 is moving to another location starting in January 2014.
