Seaside Seabird Sanctuary prepares for Hurricane Irma

Volunteers were preparing facilities and feeding American white pelicans that will stay and weather the storm along with some brown pelicans, cormorants and other birds at Seaside Seabird Sanctuary at 18328 Gulf Boulevard, Indian Shores, FL, Friday, September 8th, 2017. In anticipation of Hurricane Irma's arrival the birds were fed an extra 50 pounds of fish today in case the sanctuary staff won't be able to get back on the barrier island to feed the birds during the storm. Some of the injured birds at the sanctuary were evacuated from the waterfront property Thursday and moved to shelter in volunteers' homes. (Sept. 8, 2017) CHERIE DIEZ | Times
