Stabbing victim speaks out

(Aug. 13, 2013) For stabbing his 20-year-old girlfriend 32 times, Robert Lee Burton Jr. told a judge on Tuesday that he was willing to plead guilty— as long as he didn't have to spend more than 10 years in prison. Pinellas-Pasco Circuit Judge Keith Meyer rejected that offer, which made it appear Burton's long-awaited trial on an attempted murder charge was about to begin. But then, after a discussion with his attorney, Burton surprised victim Melissa Dohme and many of her friends and family members in the courtroom by agreeing to plead guilty, period.
