Tampa police replace kids' stolen gifts, dog still missing

The loss of the Christmas presents is bad enough. But did the burglar have to take Honey, too? On Monday, someone broke into a home on Whiteway Drive in Tampa, swiping a handful of wrapped Christmas presents that awaited a 5-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl, according to police. The burglar also stole Honey, the family's 3-month-old Shih Tzu dog. A group of Tampa police officers and dispatchers eased the pain by bringing Melody Russell, 33, and her kids, Marissa and Marcus Garcia, a batch of replacement presents, ensuring Christmas wasn't completely ruined for them. But the dog remains missing. [Edmund D. Fountain |] (Dec. 24, 2013)
