Times Summer Drinks Series-Watermelon Pisco Poolside

Morgan Zuch, corporate beverage director for the Datz Restaurant Group, makes her signature summer drink, the Watermelon Pisco Poolside. It’s a variation of the pisco sour that uses BarSol Pisco Primero which is distilled from the fermentation of Quebranta grapes in Peru. BarSol’s website boasts subtle aromas and flavors like “banana, bakers pastry and ripe dark berry fruit balanced with delicate citrus notes, apricot blossom and pecan,” that evolve into a long, elegant finish. Zuch also adds Campari, an alcoholic liqueur, that is infused with rosemary. What sounds complex is actually quite simple to recreate and even more delicious to drink. Zuch also throws in a flamingo shaped flotation device for your glass so you can stay cool in the pool. (July 12, 2017) JAMES BORCHUCK |Times Staff.
