U.S. Rep. David Jolly talks to bay area veterans about their care at the VA

Mark Escalante and Ricardo Nieves, both 49, both divorced, and both reduced to crutches, were among the 180 veterans on Tuesday who visited U.S. Rep. David Jolly's office in Seminole to share their struggles with obtaining VA medical care. All morning, veterans sat along the window ledge in wait. Some brought private therapists or caseworkers along, to help tell their stories when their turn came. Others dressed in crisp uniforms, gazing with wrinkled faces. Throughout the day, Jolly met with several of them individually in his office. [Jim Damaske |]
