Video shows SUV ramming into Largo police cruiser during traffic stop

Two Largo Police officers narrowly missed serious injury during a routine traffic stop, when a vehicle caused a four-car crash. Tuesday afternoon, Dec. 13, 2016, two Largo Police officers were affecting a traffic stop in the area of Roosevelt Blvd and 62nd St N.  While conducting the traffic stop, a vehicle ran into the back of one of the marked police cars that had the emergency lights activated.  The vehicle caused a four-car crash (including the subject vehicle, two police cars, and the individuals stopped for the traffic infraction). Injuries related to the crash appeared to be minor in nature, and the officers who were standing in the roadway were unharmed. Under Florida’s Move Over law, drivers must vacate the lane closest to the stationary emergency vehicle, tow truck, sanitation, or utility vehicle.  Drivers must slow down to a speed of 20 mph below the posted speed limit if they cannot move over safely.
